We just spent another 3 days in Venice last week, driving (!) back home to Brussels from Athens (story follows in a few weeks). It's amazing how the city combines tourist chaos with absolute quiet. Even after going there every year for decades, we still discover absolute marvels like the Redentore garden or Santa Elena. No Kentridge this time, but Tatiana Trouvé at the Palazzo Grassi more than made up for it!
Yes, that is the thing about Venice, there are a lot of hidden corners, off the beaten track. I have not been back since 2021, when it was super quiet compared to the years before, but I hear it has gone back to being crazy since.
Makes me want to return to Venice, despite the hoards of tourists. And any post that mentions both Kentridge and Venice is a winner in my book.
