Topanga… looks incredible. Somehow I associate it with music? A famous recording studio? It’s somewhere I missed on the California road trip years ago. Gaggia’s, however, are infuriating machines anywhere!

Surely related to music - Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Jim Morisson,... all lived here and the Topanga Corral was a legendary hippie venue in the late 60s. Now there's only the farmer's market left on Fridays, with a few overaged hippies still living off the land but accepting Venmo payments for their produce ;-)

Going to a Bruce Hornsby concern at the Troubadour tonight. Didn't know he was still around. Old buggers, all together...

Topanga always felt like a brother to Mandeville Canyon where we lived for more than a decade. Thank you for reawakening the ache in our hearts which has gone missing of late with all that has happened in the US

It's an amazing experience for us; we're in nature yet only 40 minutes drive from most places in LA. It took us more than a week however to get used to driving everywhere, rather than just walking like we do in Brussels. We are always impressed by the sheer size of everything and how that affects the perspective. Small countries (like Belgium) often think small. Big countries on the other hand have the scale to be more ambitious. That's why we always return hyper motivated from the States. We love it here and feel that most people think that common sense will prevail in the end. What puzzles us though is how quiet business seems in some segments: upper-end fashion retail, restaurants (other than the hype of the moment), art galleries,... Where have all the punters disappeared to?

We'd heard about this from friends in LA. Recent price rises partly explain it for sure but it's all a bit of a mystery
